August 15th we kicked off the Danish Tech Challenge (DTC), being one of the 20 teams selected to participate for the grand prize of 500.000 DKK start capital.
If you haven’t heard about DTC before, you can read more about it here, but in short: 20 teams each with their own product concept, are working together in the same building at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU). The teams are developing their products, business readiness, and market understanding with help of the DTC staff, and by working together across teams, utilizing each other’s knowledge and skills to create a solid go-to-market plan.
Think of it as an amiable version of Hunger Games, with more coffee and less weapons.
There are some fantastic ideas and some great teams in the pack. Our personal favorites include:
· LinkAiders: A social startup striving toimprove disaster communications.
· OSAA: A patented mechanical drip bag emptier for the medicinal industry. (site is under construction)
· Flow-Loop: A circulating shower system saving up to 90% of water usage.
· Odity: A health-tech startup that measures the growth of bacteria cells.
But we are keeping a close eye on the co-optition for the coming months.
The Danish Industry Foundation is the main backer, but several established corporations are backing the initiative, and supporting would-be business owners get their product off the runway.
